Contaminated water woes over, Khansahib villagers get first-ever water reservoir

Locals thank administration, say JJM has brought relief to them

Budgam, Dec 25 (KNO): Much to the delight of the people living in one of the villages of Khansahib area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district as the Jal Jeevan Mission (JMM) scheme has finally put an end their woes as a new water reservoir has been set up in the area first time. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the residents of Bag-e-Shamas Kalshipora of Khansahib express joy after a new water reservoir was provided to them under the JJM scheme. Residents said that this vital project promises to supply pure drinking water to every household in the area. “We appreciate the Lieutenant Governor led administration for bringing our village under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. This marks a significant improvement in our lives as we will now have access to clean drinking water,” a villager said. Prior to this initiative, the villagers faced health issues due to consuming contaminated water, which they were getting from the nearby villages. “Through this initiative, we will not get pure and safe drinking water directly through our tap water connections,” he said. Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Department, Budgam, Shakeel-ur-Rehman while talking to KNO, said that “we are working tirelessly day and night on multiple projects. Once completed, every household in the district will have access to pure drinking water.” Highlighting the progress, the Executive Engineer stated, “Approximately 70% of the work in the district is already complete, and the remaining tasks will be finished shortly." He also stated that the department has established water testing laboratories across the district, thus will ensure timely examination of water samples for quality assurance—(KNO)
